postmodern blues

trouble in the message centre

Bought a home. Gotta get our stuff there. Lots of stuff. Tired. Dreams of cartboard boxes. Could sleep for ages. No jamming with the spiders this Saturday. Sorry. Trouble never comes alone. Didn't get the service we expected from our phone company. Unhelpful, rude people. Dreams of slaughter. So got no internet connection for at least a couple of weeks. That means there won't be any new messages on this blog for a little while. I'll be back. With the James, with my blog. Stay in touch.

love is in the air

No rehearsal for Spider James this Saturday. Call it force majeure. Unlucky coincidence. You name it. Short round-up of whereabouts: Patrick is on the move, Ted is somewhere anywhere. Rob was at Schiphol, lost between night and day but happy to bring his love back home. WJP is sticking with the love theme. He's planned a marvelous time with a girl from Brazil he met at Paaspop in Schijndel. Having seen the line-up that must be the best thing that happened there.

production

myspace is the place #2

As promised, WJP has given our spot on myspace a good little make-over. Looking pretty damn sharp now. Is there any new music on www.myspace.com/spiderjamesspiderjames (...we like repetition), you may wonder. No, sorry. But do check in regularly. Rob has nearly finished his work on Make a Move and I, for one, wouldn't be suprised if we'd let you all have a listen to it in the near future.

myspace is the place

1997 people have listened to our music on our myspace page. We're closing in on 2000 hits! That's nothing if you're, for instance, Blonde Redhead, LCD Soundsystem or The Arcade Fire. But we're Spider James and for us 2000 is a big number.
WJP will be editing and redecorating our page soon, so be sure to check in every now and then.

back to mine (7)

MKMV

Yesterday was more than alright. Of course the focus was on King James. JL had missed on the latest developments so we had to fill him in. We weren't sure where to put the Cs and F minors. Where's Boyke when you need him? And by the way, where's WJP? Well, we didn't waste any time arguing about any chords. The groove was solid enough and it didn't seem to make too much of a difference.
We mostly worked on KAM the rest of the afternoon, adding a shuffling drum reminiscent to Miles Davis' In a silent way, sliding bass and dub guitar. Sounds pretty marvelous.
So does Make a Move. Rob has given it another turn over. It's just as spacey as it's bongo heavy. The man's getting pretty close now...

try me

the return

...it is on. Spider James returns to The Void. May 18th and 19th we'll be back with Mr. Pieter Kloos to, hopefully, record the definite version of the song formally known as King James.
Until then we'll be rehearsing our arses off. Wouldn't want to dissapoint Pidah, or ourselves for that matter.
