Last Saturday saw Boyke, Ted and me going through some bits and pieces in the Spider James catalogue. A fifty second Big Beat reprise of ‘Kinky II’. The opening chords for what should have become ‘Try a little breathing’. As Boyke worked his way through the chords of the latter, we ended up reviving the actual song. Much to our own surprise, we really liked the result. If the upbeat kraut funk of ‘King James’ represents the outgoing side of our music, than ‘Try a little…’ is the perfect example of how intimate and fragile our music can be. It reminded me of ‘Morninghead’, but it’s much more playful, almost funky. Could be we give it a go and throw it on tape this Friday or Saturday. After recording a very energetic ‘King James’.
